Next part of Forgiveness is up. It's also over on [livejournal.com profile] brasslove. Just FYI but this fic only has 5 parts so the next installment will post on Wednesday and the final should be up next Saturday.

Got struck by a bout of insanity on Friday and decided to have a yard sale today. It was only from 8am until noon but it meant being up at 6:45 to post signs. I don't do 6:45am even on a work day and it was made worse by a wicked bout of insomnia last night. If I ever was asleep, I dreamed that I was awake. As for the yard sale, the early morning started out very humid but around 8am, the wind picked up and the humidity and the gnats went away. The humidity did a number on my signs, causing them to curl up but the wind blew them upright so people found their way. And by 11:30am, just about everything was gone. That includes the old HP printer/scanner/copier and the bike that had been taking up space for years. The only thing I had left were a couple of VHS players (anyone want one) and a box of VHS tapes. I didn't expect them to sell. I was really surprised because there wasn't much haggling, which was a little disappointing because I like to haggle. The guy who bought my bike paid the full $50. Didn't even ask me if I'd take less. Of course it was a '79 Schwinn Traveler so it was worth every bit of the $50 and if he fixes it, it's probably worth even more.

The highlight of the day was a little Latino man who spoke no English but was all smiles. He wanted to buy some things but there was a language barrier, which caused him to be very shy and one of my neighbors showed up and bought up just about everything left. So the man left but around noon, as I was cleaning up, he and his wife came by again. They were checking out the few things I still had out but I remembered that earlier he was checking out some bath stuff I had since taken inside. Seeing him with his wife, it made sense. So I gestured for them to stay and went inside for the box of stuff. There were full bottles of lotions and body sprays and bath gels and I was ready to give it to them but the man wanted to pay and I thought I might insult him if I didn't accept something. So I let him have the hand held vacuum cleaner he was interested in and the box of toiletries for $2. And now I have two new friends who live down the block from me. Even though we can't understand each other at all.

When I get in a mood, such as for a yard sale, I get ruthless. There's this desk chair that has been in my computer room forever. Harry claimed it as his and would often curl up on this cushion I had put on the seat to keep it from being covered with cat hair. Well, I put the chair in the yard sale and it sold. Now poor Harry is missing his chair and I feel terrible. It really did need to go but Harry keeps going over to where it was and looking for it. I feel awful about it.
