I'm having food fail tonight. First I get this fresh shrimp spring roll from Trader Joe's and it has a 6" long dark hair in it. That ain't my hair. I'm still a little skeeved by that one. Then I'm heating up some chicken tempura, also from Trader Joe's and as I'm taking it out of the oven, it starts to slide off the pan and some of it falls onto the bottom of the oven. The bottom of my oven needs to be cleaned. Desperately. I ate it anyway. Hunger does that to me. But I did not eat that spring roll! Sure I've pulled the odd cat hair out of a plate of food (pulled a few out of my nose too - how does this happen?) but a 6" dark hair? I say no sir!

Does anyone out there in Internet Land take Singulair? My doctor just prescribed it for me and some of the possible side effects are scary! So far it just makes me feel kind of draggy the next day. I'm kind of liking the lack of crud in my throat in the morning though.

Mary Tyler Moore is going to be on Hot in Cleveland with Betty White. That's almost as awesome as the Sound of Music reunion show on Oprah. Btw, I DVR'd this but still haven't watched it. Don't tell me how it ends. Speaking of The Sound of Music, when I was a kid, I would never watch any show that seemed "wimpy" to me. Don't ask me to explain myself because I was obviously a bit misguided. And what makes this more puzzling? I loved, loved, loved "My Fair Lady". Of course that was mostly because I crushed on Rex Harrison but that's beside the point. Anyway, "The Sound of Music" used to always run on Thanksgiving (or that weekend) and we'd be at my aunt's house and I'd refuse to watch it. One Thanksgiving, they made me watch it and yes, I was hooked immediately. To the point where I could never ever miss it. I even made my mom speed home once (my aunt and cousins lived an hour away) so we could be home in time to watch it. I still refused to watch "Little House on the Prairie" though.

I still love "My Fair Lady" and it's still because of Rex Harrison. Of course I also love Audrey Hepburn but Sexy Rexy was my first crush.

Love My Fair Lady and yes sexy Rexy was hot. Remember Edward Mulhare that did the tv show The Ghost and Mrs. Muir? He was so much like sexy Rexy only not quite as hot.

I saw the Oprah Sound of Music special. I have adored Julie Andrews for years and think she is just so classy! She was on the show too. I saw her in Victor, Victoria on Broadway and it was fantastic. And Christopher Plummer.... okay, I'm panting now. The dude is in his 80's and still is just so.... hum (she says as she pants) gorgeous. And I love his voice.

We used to call Edward Mulhare, Edward Mulbunny. He was definitely on my "man list". I loved his voice.

And I agree with you about Julie Andrews. To me she's in a class with Carol Burnett, another one I adore. And yes, I also have to agree with you about Christopher Plummer. I always thought he got much better with age and was surprised to find he's 80 because he still looks really good. Btw, did you ever see him in a movie called "Eyewitness"? He dresses as a woman and he does not make a pretty woman. I think that's probably a good thing.

Take the springroll back! I know.. you probably threw it out, I would have. And have done so when the same sort of thing happened to me. But you have every right to take it back. If you still have it, and are debating, the customer service queen says to go for it. They HAVE to give you a new one. They WANT to give you a new one!

I first saw Rex Harrison in Cleopatra. I've been searching out his movies ever since. *Grins*

And to Spottedhorse: Christopher Plummer does plays at a festival not far from my home. And I agree... 80 year old hotness! Weird but sooo true!

You're right, I threw it out. I did think about taking it back but I don't have the time. So instead I went to Whole Foods, where I should have gone to begin with, and got a much better, hair-free spring roll.

Have you seen Doctor Doolittle? That was the other Rex Harrison movie I loved. I liked him in Cleopatra too but I always stop watching when he dies. Oh, another good one is The Agony and the Ecstasy along with The Ghost and Mrs Muir. It's funny that he was one of my big crushes because I always liked manly men and he's not exactly the most manly guy. But I first crushed on him when I was 5 so I don't think manly came into it then.

Sexy Rexy might not have been the most manly man, but he was soooo smooth. Smooth like John Steed! There are some men who are just elegant, like Steed, Rexy, and Christopher Plummer and are still men.

I think it was the English accent that got me. That's what I first loved about Steed. Patrick Macnee's voice was lovely. I know Rex Harrison hated the sing-speak but I loved it.

I must admit that I have never had dog hair in my nose, but I've had it in my food. The difference is, as with your cat hair, it's my dogs, therefore it's hair I'm related to. That's not as bad as unidentified hair as found in your Spring Roll. Yuck!

I also love My Fair Lady and I'm banned to the bedroom to watch Sound of Music, because I have to watch it every time it is on. I love, love that movie. Christopher Plummer...Yum!

I think it's because cat hairs are so fine that they can get anywhere. When you say you have a cat hair up your nose to a cat owner, they usually just nod their head in understanding. And cat hair in my food doesn't bother me either for the same reason you mention. I guess it might bother others though.

If that hair in the spring roll had been blonde, I might have convinced myself that it was mine. But no way I was going to buy coarse and dark. Blech.

My mother is a chronic acute asthmatic, and took Singulair for a long time...until she needed something stronger. Really didn't notice any ill side-effects for her, but the better breathing and reduced whistling was really quite nice.

What she's on now is actually a combination drug that also contains Singulair. So, in reality, she's been on the stuff for years without incident. And my mother is one of those people that gets the weird side effects usually.
