I have been very cranky lately (no surprise if you read my previous post). And judging by the general attitude around here, I think most people who live in this area right now are also very cranky. Why? Because of this freaking heat! It's now the 25th of September and for the past 4 - 5 days it's been well over 90 degrees. In September. We should have the windows open. We should be enjoying cool temps at night. Instead my AC is still cranking away and the mosquitoes are still biting. Summer is my least favorite season so I hate this more than I can say. It just stirs up an inner rage that makes me want to punch things. And I know that's not good. Also, I need rain. Where some people have seasonal depression because of rain, I get it due to the lack of rain. Only I don't get depressed. I get angry. Like now. I think I actually feel a little better writing all that out. At least I did until I just heard on the weather that we could have more 90 degree days in October. I wanted to punch the stupid weatherman.

Tucker has been doing much better however, he's now taken to peeing all over the house. I knew this was going to happen. He doesn't pee a lot but it's enough so I've taken to putting aluminum foil over the places he likes to hit. Fortunately, he's scared to death of aluminum foil. Unfortunately, a couple of rooms of my house look like I'm trying to ward off aliens. I'm trying to steer him back to the bath tub. If he's going to pee outside the box, that's the perfect place. I actually got him to go there again but then I got these boots that came in a big box and now he's decided that's the place to pee. I'm letting him enjoy it until trash day tomorrow. Then the pee box goes. But this does give me the idea of emptying out one litter box so maybe he'll go back to it. He does use the litter box - just not all the time. Part of me wonders how much of this is laziness.

While I'm on the subject of cats, here's a little more cat TMI. As you all probably know, I have three. Every night before bed, I scoop the litter box. Every night when I scoop the litter box, I have at least one, sometimes two cats who all of a sudden decide, "OMG, we all have to pee/poop". What should take two minutes generally takes five because I have to wait for them to figure out which box they want to use, dig around in the box of their choice, do their business, cover their business, stand in the box waiting for some kind of cat epiphany, and then run out of the box. Does anyone else have this issue or am I the only one?

On a more positive note I went in with a couple of co-workers on Caps season tickets. I have tickets to 11 games but I expect I'll be going to more because one of my co-workers has already asked me to go to the first pre-season game on Tuesday. These should be (better be) really good seats too. They are Acela Club level behind the net and we get free buffet and drinks from the restaurant as well as free parking. That's worth at least $50 off each game. This works out really well too. The Caps play 42 home games + playoffs. The weekend games are all right but trying to get downtown by 7pm during the week? Oy.

This is also my opportunity to get to know this guy, Bill. I met him during the playoffs through a mutual friend. We watched a couple of away games at Jackson's and hit it off pretty well. My only concern is that our politics are way different. Not worth worrying about now but definitely a potential deal killer down the road. But if nothing else, he likes hockey and cats so hopefully, he'll be a good hockey friend.

Oh, almost forgot, Happy Belated Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] smacky30! Hope you had a great day!

stand in the box waiting for some kind of cat epiphany

That had me laughing loud enough to wake up the cat.

Silver will make her displeasure known when I have left the box uncleaned for too long, but I suspect I don't clean on a regular enough schedule to get the above kind of...attention.

It's so hot here that our grass is just begging for mercy. I'm sick of the heat. Sick!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I really appreciate it.

The cat box thing? You're not alone. Grace dashes over as if to say "Hey, one last thing before you empty that--"

Considering she wants to come into my own bathroom with me, I guess elimination is a social event for her. *sigh*

With so many cat people on my f'list, I'm not sure if your cats are the ones with bladder issues. IF so, I read an article from a "ask the vet" column yesterday. He said force 1/4 cup of liguid (can be water, chicken broth, anything they'll drink) everyday. One guy wrote in saying his cat had crystal problems with his cat almost monthly until he took a syringe and forced the liquid every night. Says it's been 8 years since the cat has had crystals and the cat is now 15. Also said at first the cat hated it, but now it's not a big deal. Just a thought.

Well, hopefully it will help the problem. At least it should help minimize it.

YAY for hockey and having a potential hockey friend.

Sorry for all the cat woes. Cata can be weird.

*Raises hand* *Laughs* You are not alone! When I'm cleaning out the pans, my two have to come down and inspect the job I'm doing. And then, one of them always seems to taunt 'missed a spot' and jump in the pan to deposit.

The running away thing too! I think the Siamese is scared of his *ahem* deposits. He always runs out of there like a bat out of hell, and around the house as if its going to chase him. Boo always goes and covers it for him. *Shakes head*

Cats are weird. Its why I love them
