Snowmageddon and Picspam!

This storm has completely blown away the December storm. That looks like a dusting by comparison. This is more like the blizzard of '96, although I think it's going to surpass that one too. I went out last night and shoveled the 50 ft from my front door to my neighbor's front door. It was at least 10". This morning, 12 hours later, I shoveled another 10-12". They just gave the totals for my area: 30". It's going to take days to dig out from this one.
Had to dig Pudgy out this morning but cat tracks in the snow showed that she'd made her way out at some point. Her little house is holding up nicely. Still nice and dry inside and the umbrella is keeping the snow from coming up to the opening.
Dulles closed earlier but has now reopened. However, nothing is flying, which is weird because it's adding to the quietA hanger collapsed at Dulles and from what one of the Caps reporters for the Post was saying, it's the hanger the Caps flight leaves from. Glad they aren't traveling however, I doubt the Penguins are going to make it here for tomorrow's game.
I took some pictures but I don't think they do it justice. The snow comes up to one of the downstairs bedroom windows by about a foot. I just looked outside and there's a few more inches where I shoveled.

This was the view from my balcony this morning. That's my Willow tree.

My backyard at 10am this morning. Pudgy's little house is behind that big planter over on the far right. You can see the path I dug out to get to her.

Before and after pics of my front walkway. I shoveled that out last night and had just as much 12 hours later. Those lumps are bushes that were completely buried.

Before and after pics of the sidewalk leading away from my house (that's my neighbor's house in the pic). I shoveled all of it last night and then again this morning. The snow that was mid-shin last night was just above my knees this morning but along the sides of the snow path, it's waist high.
I haven't cleared my car yet--no one has. They look like massive snow drifts out there. I have a feeling that it's going to take a couple of days to dig the car out.
Oh, and you know it's a bad storm when the snow plows are getting stuck. Granted, these aren't the big ones VDoT or MDoT use but still...

Date: 2010-02-08 01:53 am (UTC)Poor Pudgy has been trapped in my backyard. She likes to roam around but if she climbs over the fence to get out, she'll have a very rude awakening. Plus, I can't get the gate open so she won't be able to get back in.
