I miss hockey. Not that I'd be able to see a Caps game but I miss hockey and I can't wait until the end of September.

Whole Foods has the best lump crab cakes and peanut butter cookies.

People who drive with their daytime running lights on at night are idiots. Watched someone nearly get a back-seat driver because the guy coming up behind him couldn't see him.

I hate the self-checkout lanes at grocery stores. They should give me a discount for doing their job.

Finally went to the doctor for the contact dermatitis I've had on my face since last November. He gave me some Hydrocortisone and a prescription for another cream. The cream isn't covered by my insurance and it was major expensive. Made me feel really bad for people without insurance or on fixed income.

Our standard work week is 40 hours, Mon - Fri. I had 41.5 hours as of yesterday. This has been the norm since the end of April. Tonight is the first night I've been home before dark since...I can't remember.

Vacation starts in 5 days. I fly to Denver next Tuesday afternoon. My family has a plethora of events planned: Cherry Creek Arts Festival, Princess Bride at Red Rocks (bummed I'll get in to late and will miss Carbon Leaf) Tuesday night, horseback ride up Longs Peak--unless there's still snow on the passes, then we'll take an 8 hour ride to Thunder Lake. We were going to do the 10 hour ride over the Continental Divide but we can only do that in August, when the snow has melted. Hoping to do a little fly fishing with my dad too. Or maybe I'll just sit on a rock and take in the awesomeness of the mountains and the lack of Blackberry service.

It will be hell at work when I come back from vacation. Well, a continuation of the current hell. On the upside, I've lost 12lbs due to stress and the long hours and my blood pressure is normal (it's always normal). Plus, I've managed to keep up with my daily exercise routine even though some nights I'm on the treadmill at 10:30.

Still need to finish up a few things in the last section but the Brass/Annie fic is ready to post. I was going to put the first section up this weekend but have decided to wait until I get back from vacation. I don't want to post and then wait a week before posting the next part.

Had no idea Michael Jackson died until I got home tonight. And here I thought Farrah's death was the news. Not sad about Michael Jackson; kind of sad about Farrah.

Got home in time to see most of CSI tonight. Dang, Paul is cute! The blue light really highlights the silver in his hair. Very hot. Watched Manny and Lo over the weekend. Much younger Paul with same buzz cut.

Heard on the news this morning that many women are attracted to "pretty" men (men who have feminine or soft features) because they don't feel threatened by these men. Personally, I like men with manly features. Never did do pretty. But that does explain a lot.

I keep seeing these posts about things that make people happy. My kitties make me very happy. So do corn dogs.

I hope to have lots of vacation pictures, especially after our horse ride tomorrow. However, while I'm good about taking pictures, horrible about uploading them.

I work for a large corporation as a business manager, which means I do a lot of financial reporting.

Should be hitting the wildflower bloom about right for CO alpine country. Long's Peak will be wonderful. Have a relaxing time away from the technologically-driven world.

P.S. I have a thing about manly men as well. Could never get into the pretty boy set.

I was out here the same time last year and the wildflowers on the trail ride we did then were beautiful. And I love all the little alpine flowers. I took some pics of them when we went to the top of Mt. Evans. Our horseback ride up Longs Peak had a slight change of plan due to the still present snow pack making some of the trails impassable. So we are doing a ride up the Wild Basin to Thunder Lake. I've heard it's actually a much prettier ride so I can't wait.

Oh, and I haven't completely gotten away from the technology-driven world but I did put away the blackberry so I can't hear the stupid thing buzz.

Really? I freaking love them. The checkers around here are snails. If I've got 15 or less it's the self checkout every time.

Sucks about work. I hope nothing too drastic goes down whilst you're away. All the excitement was guaranteed to occur while I was away, back when I had a real job.

Can't wait to see the fic posted. Hope you have a bitchin assed vacation. We're off on Monday for a week.

I don't mind the self-checkout if I only have one or two items but when I have more and there's only one regular lane open and the line is long, leaving the self-checkout as my only option, I hate them.

I've been checking the BB every so often and I suspect the person who's filling in for me is cursing my name right about now. We think/hope it will slow down after the 17th of July but no one is holding their breath.

Btw, read your cello fic and haven't left a review but loved it! Brass playing in his boxers and wife beater still better but black t-shirt and sweats fits the story. Would have been a little awkward if he'd met Ray at the door dressed like that.
