I'm not sure what I think about this one. I mean, when I read we were getting some Brass backstory, I thought we'd get more about Brass. But I watched it again and liked it a lot more the second time around.

Who knew Vega had a sense of humor?

"What kind of cop is a tweaking necrophiliac?" - There's a line you don't hear very often.

The Holy Crap look on Jim's face when the woman answers the door is priceless.

Better though was her look, especially when she quickly glances at his badge. That's a little detail that comes into play later. But before that look we get a very brief look of pleasant surprise. Until she sees Ecklie.

And Ecklie is immediately wondering WTF. Jim is having an "oh shit" moment, emphasized by the audible exhale and the look in his eyes. PG does some amazing acting with his eyes.

When she starts to cry and hugs Jim, Ecklie looks uncomfortable. So does Jim. Actually, I think Jim would like to crawl under a rock.

Rita specifically asks Jim when it happens. Ecklie answers for Jim.

"You going to tell me how you know her?"
"No."

I like that Ecklie calls Jim later and asks him if he needs to recuse himself. Jim of course says no. Jim is stubborn like that.

When Rita comes to his office and he's all, "can I get you anything" using that soft voice? Yeah, I go all melty. He's such a sweetheart.

So Jim never told her he was a cop. Now that's interesting. He thought maybe he told her but then he guesses he didn't. She only kinda told him she was married. She didn't tell him the truth about being married because she said she was afraid. Actually, she was pissed off

Rita says earlier that her husband changed 6 months ago when he went undercover. Whatever was going on between Jim and Rita, it was recent. And there was a breakup because Jim says he handled it badly and wasn't very graceful. So yeah, they were in a relationship.

And then stupid Vega has to interrupt the rest of the conversation.

Oooh, another week, more Jim/Catherine greatness. Poor Jim. I like that Catherine was reaching out to him but I love his absolute denial.
"Jim, I've heard you've got a potential conflict of interest in this case."
"No, I don't." And the way he says it. Absolute denial. But Catherine isn't buying it.

Then he sees it's Rita. "I'd say you have a conflict now." I love the look Catherine gives him. She definitely feels for the guy. And this makes me go awww.

And once again, Brass has to hear bad news behind the glass.

Funny that they do a little Unfriendly Skies re-enactment.

Jim gets another blow about Rita when he has to hear the tape of her call. And now he's just pissed. I do love how Catherine says "Jim" to get his attention. She has that softness to her voice that shows she's still being sympathetic to the fact that his ex-girlfriend has been a naughty girl. And not in a good way.

Love how Jim leads the way to bust the gang. He doesn't hide behind the black and whites. Dude hurt Jim's car! And nearly hurt Jim. He looked like he got hit with the door when the bike hit the car. I think Scratch was going after Brass on purpose and it had something to do with that staring contest they had in interrogation. They were doing the stare down again when Scratch was riding towards him. Brass' "shuddup" was classic.

Oooh, Brass watching them take away Rita. Brass is wearing his angry eyes.

I love Catherine and Brass together. Love them! I love that she comes to his office with the bottle while he's undressing! Seriously, does he make it a habit of loosening his tie and unbuttoning his shirt and showing the sexy while in his office? And seriously, are these writers reading my LJ and the Brass forum? Because there's no other explanation for all the unbuttoned collars and open shirts that we've been getting this season. For that I say Thank You! Now, if you could just get him to grow out his hair maybe at least an inch or two longer? Please?

Oh, and PG was wearing that white shirt, just for you, [livejournal.com profile] tos_lover, cause he knows that's how you like him.

I love how Catherine asks him if he wants to talk and he never says a word. Instead he pulls out the chair and two glasses and sits down. The smile he gives her is so, so, cute. And then we are left to assume that he eventually talks to Catherine. This is the part that leaves me feeling disappointed. These Brass episodes are few and far between. We had to wait three freaking years to get an episode focused on Brass and now all I can think is "this is all we got?".

But on the positive side, I will say it's about time the writers build up the friendship between Brass and Catherine. I love these two together and I really hope they continue this into season 10--along with unbuttoning the shirt.

I had to smile when I thought about how you must have liked this episode :-) I kinda felt gypped a little when the "backstory" actually was more subtle than what I wanted. But PG does such a great job with his acting, I realized I didn't really need it spelled out.

I liked Cath's end scene as well, although I couldn't help but feel Gris was there in spirit when she said she knew how Brass liked to end a tough case and then he pulled out the 2 glasses. Nicely played, guys.

You know, all I can really say is The Profiler? Really, CSI casting, is that really the best you can come up with for a Brass fling? I can't explain it, but I cannot stand her. So yeah, no fics from me with Rita involved. Erm, not that I've actually had any fics lately.

The Holy Crap look on Jim's face when the woman answers the door is priceless.

I loved this part. I mean PG played it so well. I loved the immediate sense of withdrawal from the moment he portrayed. The man could really just act with his eyes and nothing else and take home his paycheck.

I have to say though, that the episode bored the pants off me. It was slow to the point of "don't pause it while I go pee". And the Brass backstory was just about nonexistant. Good to know that he's been laid recently (I would assume), but there wasn't too much else there.

It's about time they got Cath and Jim doing their thing a little more.

And I did likey that white shirt...although the blue really works fabulously, especially when unbuttoned once or twice.

That was the impression I was getting from here and some of the posts @ The Forum. Even still, I read that he unbuttons a blue shirt again, and has an awesome scene w/Cath, I'm thinking those will be saving graces for me.

Oh, and you'll definitely know my thoughts when I do finally watch it.

The Holy Crap look on Jim's face when the woman answers the door is priceless.

That may have been some of the best acting I have ever seen. And it made me giggle.

You know, even when we don't get to see a lot of him, what we do get to see is so wonderful. He is just so great.
