Miscarriage of Justice

There were a couple of cool things about this episode but the most interesting was something that tied back to a S4 episode.
Above the door to the courtroom were the words, "All For Our Country". Back in the episode of the same name, a shoe print exposed the clerk as the murderer. In this episode, a shoe print exposed the murderer. Coincidence?
One of the most dumbest things about this episode? There's a cop shouting LVPD at a man with a gun. Where are the cops? You yell "stop" and "drop the gun" in a government facility and cops pour out of the woodwork. And then, there's a gunshot and the only person who reacts to it in the courtroom is Catherine? Yeah, right. At the very least, where the heck is the bailiff? The deputy? They were there later for the trial. That was just lame.
Coolest part about the episode? Brass, Catherine and Nick working through the case timeline. Brass used to hang out at the lab all the time then he practically disappeared. Grissom leaves and there he is again. Interesting. Again, note to PG the minute Brass unbuttons his shirt and loosens his tie, he looks completely different. The buttoned shirt squishes his neck and makes him look older. The unbuttoned shirt does not. If I was pushing 60 and someone told me that unbuttoning my shirt made me look younger, I'd walk around like Gary Dourdan.
I still want to know why they took away all the stuff that used to be on Brass's desk. Guy gets shot, comes back and all his stuff is gone and they never give it back. He used to have a computer. Guess they figure he's got people like Vartann and Vega to compute now.
There's a scene where Brass comes busting into the interrogation room shouting "Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, Tommy, my man!". After talking to Tommy for a bit, he abruptly gets up and leaves Tommy sitting here so he can go talk to Catherine. I loved the whole scene because when he talks to Catherine, he has this very intense look on his face. He probably has that look with everyone but I blame
alice_day and her awesome fic, Blood Ties, for making me think shippy, smutty thoughts.
Episode as a whole was good, not spectacular by any means but an entertaining hour of TV. More Brass than I expected, didn't expect who did it to have done it, but that beginning definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.

The line starts here, sista! But see what I mean about how different he looks with an open collar?

Date: 2009-02-20 06:53 am (UTC)Omg, the loosened collar. Yeah, PG needs to get with that look more often, like all the time. Do the directors see the same thing we do? It's lovely that he's getting more screentime, but it's kind of a bummer that it took WP leaving for him to get it.

I suppose they're going to come back to Riley's 'issues' at some point, but to be honest? I don't really care much.

Date: 2009-02-21 03:59 am (UTC)I have to agree with you about Riley. We had a big discussion about her at work today and the consensus is a big thumb's down for her. Ray, however, gets two thumbs up!

that would be quite the interesting look.

i hadn't noticed that. because this is the first i'm watching since grissom left, and yeah, i'm really behind. although, i know brass used to have grissom's job, and i kind of wish we had a chance to see more of brass in that position.
i hope you're doing well! have a good one :o)
