Disarmed and Dangerous

So I koshed myself in the head with the hatch to my car. I dented my head and it hurts. Just thought you should know.
Catherine tells Ray not to get ahead of the evidence. Brass comes in and exposits. Ray looks at Catherine who tells Ray that Brass is supposed to get ahead of the evidence.
There's a pic of a young girl on the wall at the "FBI" command center. At first I thought it was Ellie.
There still doesn't seem to be a lot of love between Brass and Ray but seeing two excellent actors like Paul Guilfoyle and Laurence Fishburne on screen together is awesome.
During the investigation with Roid Boy, Brass gets his first hint that Miles is goofy. But Miles redeems himself.
Brass says he prefers boxing, the sweet science, as he puts up his dukes. Cute! Brass is a boxer.
Poor Jim. Yet another dead guy. This time the guy toasts himself because he thinks the cops are fake. Why not, the FBI guys are fake.
Loved Wendy calling Brass with the lab results. Nine freaking seasons and finally, Brass gets to be the cop. I love how he's being worked into these episodes. Again, finally.
Who are these crime scene people helping to clear out the fake command center? Nice to know there are more than five CSI's working for LVPD.
Again, poor Jim. He's pissed and feeling bad because he got duped. At least the real FBI guy said it was a good fake. Way to make Jim feel a little better. But not much.
Brass traded the jacket for a windbreaker. It's a start.
I barely recognized the guy at the desk of the halfway house. Wow, what happened to Mickey? (Equalizer reference). Jim is doing a slow burn at the halfway house. See Jim slow burn.
Jim is extremely hot when he runs out into the street and fires at the suspect in the car. Extremely hot. This is why I love Jim. Jim fires and kills the suspect. Jim has reached his boiling point and crazy Miles pushes him over the edge when he says he's going to put him in for a commendation. Silly Miles, doesn't he know Jim has already gotten a commendation for getting himself shot? Jim doesn't like to hear shit like that and goes off on Miles. Good thing Ray was standing between Miles and Jim. I really love Angry!Jim.
I loved Brass's reaction to "crazy" Miles because it was a reaction to all the horrible stuff that had happened because of Mile's playing pretend. Plus, Brass doesn't like being duped. Who does? It was great seeing Brass show some real emotion. We haven't seen him go off since "Ellie". Given everything he's been through, I'm surprised it took him this long.
More flashes of "Ellie" when killer caught his thumb while loading the weapon. In "Ellie" it was a slide bite.
This was an interesting episode because on one side you have Ray, telling Miles that he was fighting the good fight, and on the other you have Brass pissed off at the trail of bodies that were left in the wake of Miles' game. Brass is a cop. He thinks and reacts like a cop. Ray is not. Ray hasn't been jaded by the job. He's still trying to tilt at his own windmills. Brass has been hit by windmills. Ray will get there too. But, if you have compassion for Miles do you also have compassion for the guy who blew out his brains because he thought the cops were fakes and the gun wasn't loaded?

Date: 2009-01-31 08:05 pm (UTC)I should add that I used an annoyed icon because originally I was going to tell you to go over to YTDAW and read some of the comments about how some of them thought Brass was OOC because he got emotional. I guess to them he's only supposed to be one dimensional. And funny.

Date: 2009-01-30 05:17 am (UTC)I'm with you that I thought that picture Nick looked at was Ellie. I thought he would call Jim right away and we were going to get a major episode with Brass. Bummer, it wasn't but still there was lots of Brass.
I'm still trying to get over the fact that Big Red Hulk cut his bicep out of his arm. Ewwww! That was disgusting.
Sorry about your head. Maybe we can get Jim to come over and kiss it.

Date: 2009-01-31 08:10 pm (UTC)I never really got the whole reason why Big Red Hulk tore out his biceps. Did they give a reason?
And I love the new CSI, especially the fact that they're letting Brass be the cop for once. Not missing Grissom at all and I love what they're doing with LF's character.

And maybe he can comfort your head ;)

Date: 2009-01-31 08:15 pm (UTC)I think the reason he and Ray don't get along (actually, they do but they are not BFF), is because Brass is so jaded and Ray is not. Ray is still full of puppies and sunshine. Ray probably doesn't understand why Brass is so jaded. I suspect Ray will find out though.

I hope your head feels better.

Date: 2009-01-30 12:22 pm (UTC)I think Brass will warm up to Ray, eventually. To be honest, it felt like an ep written with Grissom in mind and they put Ray into the role--especially the part at the end with the whole Don Quixote scene. I want the writers to write Ray scenes that aren't recycled Grissom scenes.

Date: 2009-02-06 11:01 am (UTC)I've missed three (3!) episodes in a row, and finally had the chance to play catchup yesterday. And what a way to catch up!
My writing 'co conspirator' told me the angry Brass in the last episode helped her write her last instalment, if that wasn't a reason to finally sit down and watch, I don't know what was! That was a great great scene.
Im glad Im not the only one who momentarily thought that was Ellie. My eyes got HUGE when I saw the picture Nick was looking at. I swear they did that on purpose.. *Hopeful* think they're dangling that one in front of us for future reference. Doubt it.. but, its a nice thought!
I was all set to watch a new ep last night, putting a cap on my mini CSI marathon, when it was a repeat. Boo.
Hope your head is feeling better! Wow.. that must have been some doozy to be messing with your dreams!

Date: 2009-02-07 06:39 pm (UTC)Yes, it was an awesome scene! Rarely do we get that much Brass emotion so it definitely a treat. And so was finding another installment of Lucky Match. I know how hectic RL has been for just about everyone but I hoped it hadn't been abandoned. And if that scene isn't a great source of inspiration, I'm not sure what is. Now it's your turn, right?
You know, I'm sure that pic was just a coincidence but I had the same thought about foreshadowing. I don't think the writers put that much into it though.
The head is still a little sore and very dented but definitely much better, thanks. I still have amazing, yet bizarre-o dreams though. I must have kick-started the dream part of my brain.
