I Like Guaifenesin -- and LF on CSI

I got a flu shot. This is good because if I hadn't, I'd probably have the flu right now. Instead, I have this mutant cold. It's definitely worse than your average cold but not as bad as the flu. So yeah, I'm hyped up on the massive amounts of guaifenesin in Mucinex D.
Awesome episode but then, I love episodes about serial killers (thought Millander was beyond boring but the Blue Paint Killer was interesting). Haskell was positively creepy. This episode was also one of the goriest in a while. I mean, I didn't really need to see how a body becomes soup in a bag. And decomp guy with the maggot face was especially ew.
Just FYI but my office chair is just like Grissom's. Very comfy.
Anyone else think Joel Steiner's mother looked like Carol Mendelsohn? Just me? Ok.
Who else was suspicious of the guy who asked to buy the woman a drink. Like maybe he's working with DJK. Or maybe he was dead guy #10. Very, very creepy when DJK calls Langston and tells him to look out the window.
Loved the Brass/Grissom exchange:
Brass: So I hear you're moving on
Grissom: I am
Brass: That's too bad.
Grissom: We'll stay in touch
Brass: Sure. You know the barbeque, Labor Day, 4th of July, we'll go out on the boat.
Grissom: You got a boat?
Brass: No
Grissom asks about the boat like Brass has been holding out on him all these years, which makes you realize that these guys have been co-workers and friends but maybe the friendship ends when they go home at night. And Brass's response is the perfunctory going-away speech that most of us have said at one time or another. It's just lip service. That's why he tossed out that bit about a boat. Oh, and too bad they got interrupted but I always get the idea that if Brass and Grissom had to talk personal stuff for very long, they'd end up quiet and staring at each other after a few minutes. They don't always seem comfortable talking to each other about personal stuff.
I get the impression that Grissom thought he could say he was leaving and then he'd leave. No one would miss him, there'd be no cake in the breakroom. I think Grissom completely underestimated everyone's reaction. When Wendy told him thanks, Grissom made it a work thing. I got the impression that when he tells Super Dave that he will miss him, he meant it as a joke. But then Super Dave's reaction made him realize that people really will miss him and that made him sad. Made me sad too.
I love Brass being all authoritative tough cop at the car wash. Notice how when Brass yells "LVPD", it's very loud and forceful. Listen to when Vartann yells it. He has such a wimpy sounding voice. Definitely made me laugh.
I like Laurence Fishburne. I wouldn't go see a movie just because he's in it but he's been in two of my most favorite movies (Boyz N the Hood and Akeelah and the Bee) so I like him. I like that the actor isn't a pretty boy. I like that his character is smart but still has a lot to learn. I like that he's already butting heads with Brass. I think I'm really going to like him on the show. Wonder if the Prof is married? It would be kind of cool to have a character who's married with a couple of kids. Maybe even a dog.
Oh, and when they find that 10th body in the tunnel and Brass is looking over Grissom's shoulder, PG is freakin' hot! Some times the lighting on him isn't so great (like in the car wash) but that time it was perfect.

Date: 2008-12-12 12:31 pm (UTC)PG did a kickass job, and I also liked how he gently but firmly told the mom she couldn't have the Star of David--that had to be hard and yet he made it clear without being a hardass about it. One more reason to love his character!
Yeah, Grissom did look surprised about everyone's reactions to his announcement, and I'm sorry to see that. Did time with Sara and his great growth into the world beyond his townhouse make so little lasting impression? *sigh*
Fishburne has a lot of potential. I don't mean to be tacky, but he looks really heavy--has he put on weight?

Date: 2008-12-13 08:48 pm (UTC)But beyond the rant, yeah wasn't Brass just freakin' hot in this ep? I totally agree about the backlighting in the car wash...it really bugs me when they do that to him (and they do it a lot), but when he was looking over Grissom's shoulder...omfg. That look is just drooly. I loved the scenes with Brass and I agree with the boat comment, too.
I watched Toe Tags again yesterday. I think the start of S7 is almost my fav look for him. He was so hot busting into that hotel room.

Date: 2008-12-13 09:36 pm (UTC)That lighting in the car wash combined with the make-up made PG look all pasty. I hate when they do that. There are a couple of promo pics like that and I cringe whenever I see them. But that look in the tunnel...*melts*
And I couldn't agree with you more about the start of S7. I love, love, love the way he looks in Toe Tags (see icon). His look combined with that suit...*thud*.
Btw, you should have gotten another fic section from me. My email (and internet) has been a little wonky lately so if it didn't show up, let me know.

Date: 2008-12-14 07:16 am (UTC)I'm so sorry about being such a slow poke, and I've been meaning to email you and apologize for taking so long. I should be sheepishly getting it to you tomorrow.
It's going to be interesting to see where else the BSG writers go with the storylines, but I'm cautiously optimistic about LF and the rest of the season.
And yes, *thud* just about sums up your icon and that episode.

Date: 2008-12-14 06:35 am (UTC)I really enjoyed the episode. LF is definitely a welcome change to the show. Right off the bat, I felt the complexity of the character. And can I say how much I got a kick out of his offhand comment when Jim effectively dismissed him from his PD office. That was awesome. I hope they work together often. I want to watch how they play off each other.

Date: 2008-12-14 07:46 am (UTC)After I read your post on the JB Forum, I re-watched the episode this morning and really noticed how high-pitched Vartann's voice is. He sounds like he hasn't hit puberty yet. Jim yelling "LVPD" loudly reminded me of how loud he says "Get out of the car" in Fannysmackin' into the bull-horn.
At least you got a Flu shot, I had to take the stupid FluMist shit. Nothing better in life that snorting your vaccination up each nostril! Then you end up swallowing it. Yeah, ew...Hope you feel better though. Being under the weather sucks.
