Randomness
Apr. 7th, 2008 10:15 pmI haven't done a random post in a while so here goes...
I sent in my order for Caps playoff tickets to games 1 and 2. My boss's next door neighbors have a connection so she sent me the order form. Not sure when I'll find out if I got them. They're Club level which is where the company seats are so it's a great view of the ice. And the price was reasonable. I ordered two for Friday's game and two for Sunday's game. We play the Flyers.
Finally made a decision on the 20 year gift. In a surprise move I went with the Dooney and Bourke handbag. It's nice and roomy and I really liked the short strap. Completely not practical but what can I say? Except for the part where I toiled away for The Man for 20 years, it was free.
I'm hoping to take off the week of the 21st. I haven't had a week off since Christmas and even then I only managed to take off a couple of days instead of the whole week. I want time off with no Blackberry or voicemails or sense of obligation to work. I've been debating whether to fly somewhere or just stay home. I'd really love to take off two weeks so I can do both. I could probably do it too. The last week of the month tends to be the slowest. I'd like to go to the West Coast or Italy and if I got my butt in gear, I could probably see if my friends in Madrid could meet me in Rome. But my butt is stuck in neutral right now. I do know I'm going to Colorado for the 4th of July again. This is becoming the annual family vacation and as someone who didn't have that family vacation thing as a kid, I'm really loving it. My dad wants to go horseback riding this time and I'd love to go fly fishing. I haven't done that in ages.
I posted all my CSI comments over on the Jim Brass Forum instead of here but I will say that the best part of the episode was Brass going to Grissom's place. I totally didn't see that coming. The scene was brilliant and powerful and perfectly done by PG, as usual. I'm starting to think that Brass getting emotional like that is the way the writers are having the character deal with Bell's shooting. Brass can't be responsible for another innocent person dying. Last season he got a little freaked when the girl DFO'd in his office. Fortunately, Cook's death wasn't his fault. Oh, and I'd kind of like to see more Maddie. I liked her scenes with Brass but dang, her hair looked like someone tried to style bed-head. And failed.

Date: 2008-04-09 04:13 am (UTC)I love Rome. I was there in 2002 and have been dying to go back ever since. And I swear it has nothing to do with the fact that PG hangs out there at the end of the season. It's just the most amazing city.

Date: 2008-04-09 02:19 pm (UTC)I have a boatload of Italian friends that I knew in the UK, and I've been all over Europe, but just about the only place I haven't been to is Rome. I know, ridiculous, isn't it? We keep saying we're gonna go, but Sadie is just a tad too young to do Rome, it'd be way too hard.

Date: 2008-04-09 04:20 am (UTC)For my 25 years, if I'm still with the company, I'll get to go to a formal dinner in either L.A. or NYC. Personally, I'd rather have another purse than have to mingle with people I don't know.

Date: 2008-04-09 04:32 am (UTC)This is my first Dooney & Bourke purse. I'm usually a Coach girl but I think I might like DB better. And if you're not a purse girl and the purses are practically new, you can always sell them for a hefty profit.

Date: 2008-04-09 04:41 am (UTC)I also got the impression that she knew Brass for as long as she knew Grissom however, if it were revealed later that they'd slept together a couple of random times, I wouldn't be surprised. She had that kind of vibe with Jim. She also reminded me of Annie but I like Annie better. It's a Donna Murphy thing.
