Update to Vegas trip. We've narrowed down our list of things to do with a new addition. Last night one of my friends emailed us that Elton John is playing a concert in Las Vegas on the 5th. It's one night only, the really good seats are in the $$$ range and were we interested because she'd never seen him, always wanted to and was going with or without us. I love Sir Elton. He was my very first concert and since then I've seen him maybe 5 times. Even when he was at his pudgy and druggy worst, he still put on a great show. The guy is 60 now and he doesn't do the big concert tours any more so my reply was an enthusiastic "hell yes, I want to go"! My other friend also agreed and today I got an email saying she got the tickets. I'm so excited!
Anyway, here's what we have lined up so far--in addition to gambling and much consumption of alcohol.
Arrive Saturday: hit the spa at the Bellagio for manicures and pedicures, then Kahunaville
Sunday: the Sterling buffet at Bally's, Zumanity, get inked
Monday: Helicopter ride over Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon, hit the spa again for massages, Elton John
Tuesday: Stripper 101, Binions for the chicken fried lobster, Fremont Street
Depart Wednesday. Right now my friend has us booked on an 8am flight out. After we gave her the "are you crazy" look, she said she'd work on changing it.
Also, I just watched Pushing Daisies and that one is definitely on my DVR list (I rarely make it home in time to actually watch shows that start at 8pm). Besides being absolutely amazing to see in HD, I love the characters and the idea. It's just...wow.

Date: 2007-10-06 10:45 pm (UTC)Sir Elton was my 2nd concert (I will NOT tell you my first...you would wet yourself laughing). I would love to see him again.
It sounds like a wonderful time. Very excited for you.

Date: 2007-10-06 11:12 pm (UTC)Staying up all night is the only way to take that 8am flight. It gets back here around 3:30, which would be nice. But the thought of having to be coherent that early in the morning is just wrong.

Date: 2007-10-07 06:02 am (UTC)It's funny because as I was typing my true confession, the thought crossed my mind that yours was also The Osmonds (we're about the same age, I think). And now that I think about it, it might have also been 1972.

Date: 2007-10-08 12:56 am (UTC)I would love to see Elton John, I've never seen him, but I can imagine he's amazing live. My first concert was Queen in 1982 and Freddy Mercury was just incredible, what I'd expect Elton to be like live.
And if you can hit Rao's at Caesar's for dinner I'd highly recommend it. Best Italian I've ever had, and there are picture and autographs plastering the entire place. I'm sure PG is somewhere in there.
Pushing Daisies is really good, I've checked out Dirty, Sexy Money, too and it surprised me. I thought it would suck of lame but the first two eps were good.

Date: 2007-10-08 01:07 am (UTC)I haven't checked out any other shows except Back to You (the one with Kelsey Grammer). Unfortunately, I've recorded it but not watched it yet. I sort of wanted to check out Big Shots and Private Practice but I've failed at both.
I'll keep Rao's in mind. We went to this Italian place called Nora's last time. It's well off the Strip (unless you count the strip mall it's in) and is frequented mostly by locals. It was short on ambiance but the food was very good.

Mmmm, food and Vegas, two of my fav things.

Date: 2007-10-08 04:02 pm (UTC)I'm a foodie and so are my Vegas friends. It's always about the food with us. This trip is as much about where and what we'll eat than the rest of the stuff.

Date: 2007-10-08 03:59 pm (UTC)I have three choices and I can't decide which one:
Cat's paw prints (3 - one for each kitty)
Snowflake (I like the idea of individualism and of course...snow)
Dallas Cowboy Star (this is for my grandpa as much as it is the team)
The where is most likely on the back of my shoulder. I can't let it show for work.
