Odds and Ends

This is really going to be a post about nothing.

I think I've figured out that my inability to see certain graphics is related to ZoneAlarm. I can see dead people pictures just after I update the firewall then when I re-boot, it all goes away.

How bad is my life when the greatest thing that happened today was that I got my Blackberry to finally recognize the Bluetooth headset? Yeah, I have no purpose. Life did look up a little though because when I got home this evening, there was a notice that Fed Ex had tried to deliver a package from Charity Folks. Yep, it was Paul Guilfoyle's hockey jersey. So, after a little jaunt to the Fed Ex office (I'd like to send them my love for staying open until 9pm) and ogling the really cute guy behind the counter, I left with my new but completely useless purchase. It's now hanging on the door to my computer room. Hockey jersies are very cool. Hockey jersies with Paul Guilfoyle's signature on them are even cooler.

I still haven't started my fic for the Ficathon. Well, I've sort of started it but I'm afraid it's going to be craptastic. I really want to write on the Brass/Sofia fic but I've told myself I can't do it until the other fic is done.

I hate the 4th of July. I don't actually hate what it stands for but I hate that Virginia allows the sale of fireworks and that the trollkins who live in my neighborhood shoot them off from now until January. Last year I came out to find pop bottle rocket debris all over the hood of my car. I really want to buy a house with a garage. Instead, I think I'll just go to a movie on the 4th. It's cheaper.

If you're not being able to see pics is really getting up your nose, I'll ask husband. He's one of those security/firewall knowitalls.
I know how you feel about the 4th. I think I'm going to hoist the Union Jack and REALLY piss off the neighbors.

I'm not English but I do have a Union Jack. A couple of them. I was such an Anglophile as a kid, thanks to The Avengers and my immense crush on Patrick Macnee. Hmm, maybe in a show of cross country solidarity, I'll hoist mine too. Then again, it would probably just give the kids something to aim at.

And yes please. Do ask the husband. This not seeing things (it seems to definitely be gif's and possibly png's) really is getting up my nose. That's going to be my new favorite expression, btw.

Oi, today was wretched, so sorry this is late.
He says that Zone is most likely blocking the gifs because there is a way for people to Trojan your machine by clicking on pictures, and if the patch isn't installed, then Zone will default to blocking certain gifs. He thinks that maybe your PC has an older version/patch of Zone than your laptop. Disable Zone by rightclicking on its icon in the toolbar and see if you can see the gifs. And also check for updates to zone.

John Steed/PM was my first ever hero. I mean I loved him, even with his lack of chest hair ;)

Yay! I figured it out. I do have the most up to date Zone Alarm but apparently, whenever I update it, it changes my privacy settings so all of a sudden, I can see gifs and such. The culprit is the ad blocker. It was set to block all animation and banners. I changed the setting for LJ and voila! Now I can see everything.

Oh, and Steed does have a bit of hair on his chest but nothing like Brass. Brass chest hair is yummy!
