Any Trip Advisors out there?

Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Seattle? I'm not looking for cheap but I also don't want The Four Seasons. Well, I do but that's a bit too posh. I've pretty much convinced myself that I'm going out there the last weekend in February but I have no idea where to stay. I don't want anything too far north because I'll have to drive south to Kent two of the days I'm out there. I've checked out tripadvisor and there are three that I like but I've love to hear if anyone out there has any recommendations.

I only live in the great Seattle area but I don't know of anyplace to stay downtown that isn't like the 4 Seasons or comparable.

The hotels around the airport are mostly good if you go with a known name.

I did check out the airport hotels but two things: I didn't like that almost all of them had a report of bed bugs in the last few months (this included known named hotels) and I really want to be in the city so I can walk around and see stuff. I get the impression there's not much to see out by the airport.

I still haven't decided if I'm going to go yet. Kind of far to travel to see a celebrity hockey game that my celebrity may or may not attend.

You didn't say it was a celebrity Hocky game... PG might play?

I'll check with some friends who still work in the city. You'd think after working downtown for 13 years I know stuff like that but...

One place I can think of is The W, but I don't know what it's cost is. I know there are also some places by Lake Union (fringes of downtown but accessible to the downtown are by a quick bus or trolley ride.

You know if you come, we should have lunch.

Yep, it's the Microsoft Hockey Challenge down in Kent. PG has played every year but 2010. It's been on my bucket list for a lot of years to see him play hockey and this might be my last chance.

I was looking at the Hyatt at Olive 8 as a possible choice. I have some Hyatt rewards thing and I can use my Amex membership reward points. Other option is the Hotel 1000 because it looks really cool but it's pretty pricey.

And if I go, we will definitely have to do lunch. We can talk Voyage and CSI and who knows what else!

When is the game?

There is the Silver Cloud in on Lake Union, right on the Trolley line to downtown and walking distance to the Space Needle, EMP and Sci-Fi museum

Game is Saturday, the 25th, after the Thunderbirds game at 6:05pm. PG played last year and scored a couple of goals but they didn't announce that he was going to be there. I did get to see him live and in person the next weekend but I'd still love to see him play hockey.

I booked my flight so it looks like I'm going to Seattle. Still haven't decided on a hotel yet. If you would like to go to the game, let me know and I'll buy an extra ticket for Saturday (my treat). I'll probably go to the autograph session, the Thunderbirds game and then of course the celebrity game after.

The Westin on 5th Ave

He has been there 3 times in the last few months and RAVES about it every time. He's decided not to stay anywhere else when he visits now.

Oh, and he says to stay in the North Tower, because it's the newer of the two.

I don't think anyone who would know tweets but it's all moot now. Trip has been booked so either I'll see him skate or I'll enjoy a couple of hockey games.
