Wow, just a few more days of blogging to go. I'd like to say I'll continue past the end of November but I know I won't. Maybe I'll take it up again in February.

For all the lurking and non lurking Brass fans out there the Jim Brass forum is up and running again! You'll have to sign up again but once you do, the sandbox is free of cat poop and ready to go. So head on over, sign up and start playing. Except for the part where we lost all the old posts, the new forum looks great! Feel free to start adding to it.

Tucker's vet called today to see how he was doing. This was his regular vet. Did I mention I love her? It's great to have a vet who pays that kind of attention to her patients, even if she didn't do the surgery. And speaking of kitties, I had Harry on my lap (he has become a major lap cat) and Sophie lying next to me on the couch. Harry's tail is going back and forth so of course Sophie starts playing with it. So here she is, attacking his tail while he just sits calmly on the my lap. And I think he was on to her too because he would draw his tail back and then whip it in front of her. Cats are so amusing.

As is my tradition, today I'm cooking my own turkey dinner. Because I always go to my dad's, I never get the leftovers. And I like cooking a turkey. So I get a 5lb breast, make some stuffing and tonight, Brussels Sprouts and I have my own little Thanksgiving. And the turkey gets shared with my three plus Pudgey the stray. Between me and my neighbor, Pudgey will eat like a queen for the next week or so.

Yesterday we did something very different for Thanksgiving. My dad, stepmother, and I drove out to Remington, VA to the Inn at Kelly's Ford. Remington is about an hour or so drive out to the sticks. It really is over the river and through the woods and once you get there, it's the picture of what you might think Virginia should look like: horses, green rolling hills surrounded by trees, and a fox or two spotted near a pond around dusk. It really is a beautiful setting. The Inn is an old farmhouse with several old stone fireplaces that made the air smell of wood smoke. They had several choices for dinner: turkey and stuffing, grilled tuna, lamb chops and filet mignon. I was tempted by the filet but both my dad and I went with the turkey. It was Thanksgiving, after all. My stepmother chose the tuna because she'll always pick fish and she's not a big fan of turkey. The food was excellent, as was the wine my dad selected. I think my favorite part were the hard rolls they served. They were so, so good with the goat cheese and cranberry sauce. I need to find some rolls like that because I've been dreaming of the goat cheese ever since. My stepmother made a pumpkin pie (she is an amazing cook) so we skipped dessert at the restaurant and headed back home. My dad was sad about not having turkey leftovers but we all decided that this was definitely the way to go!

I have never missed watching the Cowboys play on Thanksgiving Day for as long as I can remember. Even if they suck. Yesterday we were be seated about the time they were kicking off. So I recorded the game and watched it last night. Yeah, they lost the game but it wasn't without effort - effort that has been missing all season. I was very happy when Paw Paw Wade got fired. He'd lost control of the team during pre-season and should have been fired about five games earlier. Jason Garrett might not be the answer but he's impressing me because he's got these guys focused. If they'd fallen behind by 17 points before, the score would have just gotten worse because they would have given up. This team plays like they actually care now and if it weren't for an unfortunate turnover (I'm not blaming you, Roy Williams), Dallas would have won that game. Despite the end result, it was a very good game. Tomorrow my other Cowboys play the OU Sooners (my most despised college team). I'm hoping that game has a better end result.
