I prefer the winter games over the summer ones, but either way the coverage (or what NBC claims is coverage, anyway) absolutely blows. Really, do I really want to see the US contender who is in 25th place with no chance of medaling or going through to the next round, or would I like to see someone higher in the standings even *gasp* if they are from one of those foreign countries? Because from the coverage I'm seeing, if I didn't know better I could believe that the olympics are just for Americans to compete in. And I say that with no envy, I'm programmed to accept British underachievement--the British invent stuff and everyone else perfects it. Take curling for example...
