Today's ramble involves weird Brass fic dreams, cats, smoothies, and ER
I had the weirdest dream last night. Ok, so I always have weird dreams but this one was weird because it was about a Brass fic written by a former co-worker. Why I dreamed about this co-worker, I'll never know. I don't remember much about the dream except Brass gets shot and there's a line at the end from Catherine saying something about not being there for the past but definitely there for the future--and his recovery. When I woke up, I remembered the exact wording but now I've forgotten. It was a very good dream.
So on Friday I had to run out to the vet's office to pick up an E-collar. You know, the inverted lamp shade that naughty kitties and puppies have to wear when they pick at their stitches? Sophie has sort of been picking at hers and I was afraid she might have them out by Monday. It was after hours when I got to the vet's office so they put the collar in the "catnip bucket". The bucket is empty but at one time it was full of catnip so there's a residual smell. Oh, and I should mention that E-collars aren't those rigid lamp shades any more. They're made of something like vinyl with these rigid darts to keep it up. It's much more flexible than the old ones. Anyway, I have to tell you all this background to set up the story. So here's the story. I bring the collar home and set it on the table. Immediately, Harry is interested in it. He's standing on his back legs, trying to grab at it with his paw. I tell him to get down, he keeps at it. I move it out of his reach, he leaves it alone. For a while. A couple of hours later, he's got it and is dragging it through the house so I grab it and put it on him. He doesn't know how to react then starts backing up. He never goes forward; just backward. I take it off him and then take it upstairs and put it on a table by the bed. I haven't put it on Sophie yet because it doesn't look like she's messing with the stitches--just wants to lick around the wound.
So, fast forward to me being dead asleep then awakened by this noise at 3am. The room is dark but there's enough light to see that a couple of things on the table are now on the floor and the E-collar is missing. I look around the room and see Harry crouching under the inversion table--wearing the E-collar! Yes, he took it off the table and somehow managed to get his head through the opening. I couldn't have done a better job. And he's not moving because the thing freaks him out. Of course I am laughing my butt off, wishing I had the camera. That cat is such a doof. How can I not love him?
I took a pic of Sophie's pom pom tail to show the girls at work. So, I'll show you all too.

Made the best smoothie ever this afternoon! Bananas, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple, rice milk, and Bolthouse Passionfruit, Apple, Carrot juice then add in some soy protein powder and ground flaxseed (have to lower that cholesterol). Wow, this was good! I think it will be my reward for doing yard work for the rest of the spring/summer/fall.
Finally watched the ER finale. They really did give it a proper send-off. I watched that show from the very beginning and stuck with it through some very low points. This last season was very good--actually made me a like Archie Morris to the point that he was my favorite. And I loved seeing all the familiar faces, including the ER nurses, come back for the end. And Mark Greene's daughter, Rachel? That was a nice surprise, as was Benton's son, kid whose name I can't recall.
