"it's a rat writ, writ for a rat"

So Friday night I come home from taking the boys to the vet. This particular doctor has been my cat's vet for years and years. She put Basil to sleep and in February, she put Emma to sleep. And she cried with me both times. Back in February, she left the clinic so that she could start her own cat clinic. She signed an agreement saying she wouldn't steal away the patients but a couple of months ago, she emailed me to see how the kitties were doing and I told her about newbie kitten, Tucker (who is now 9 lbs and the same size as Harry). Long story short, I'm now taking my cats to her and since I didn't care much for the other place after she left, I'm happy again. So are the cats. They were so not stressed that both Harry and Tucker fell asleep in the carrier on the way home. That's never happened before.
So what's all this got to do with rats you ask? Because when I got home from the vet I happened to notice that one of the kittens that was born in my back yard back in April was hanging around my front yard along with the regulars. She wouldn't let me get near her so I went back inside and watched her through one of the windows. I noticed she was hanging around this one spot in the yard and upon closer examination, I realized what had her attention: a big, huge dead rat. It was dusk out but I'm thinking great, tomorrow is supposed to be hot and humid and the smell of decomp is going to start stinking up the place pretty quickly. I had to do something so I got a shovel, picked up dead huge rat and tossed him near some trees thinking some other animal would make a feast of him (they did too because the carcass is gone). I've never been so disgusted in my life but at least it was dark out so I didn't have to actually see it.
My theory is that one of the stray cats in the neighborhood left it as a thank you for feeding them. Note to stray cats: not really into your dead, stinky gifts, thanks. Oh, and I'm sure a couple of my neighbors think I'm a bit loopy. I was standing in the front yard with a shovel, not really doing anything but standing there, as I tried to work out a plan for dead rat and then waited until it got dark out so no one could see what I was dumping when I had a plan. Oh, and I was also waiting for the real estate agent showing the townhouse two doors down to get her potential buyer inside because I figured seeing a neighbor haul away a dead rodent might not be a good selling point.
Work has been an evil bitch lately so when the weekend rolls around, I don't have the energy or the inclination to do much of anything. Yesterday, after I did some of the work I brought home with me, I watched the first disc of BSG, season 2.0. inamberclad got me hooked on it earlier this year so the fact that I watched all four episodes last night is all her fault--in a good way of course. This season picks up after Adama is shot twice in the chest. I liked the parallels to Brass getting shot at the end of S6 except that BSG did the follow-up to Adama getting shot about 200 times better. There's a scene in one of the future BSG episodes where Adama is standing in front of a mirror, looking at the surgery scar. I'd love it if CSI did something like that with Brass but I don't think they even remember Brass was shot. They brushed the whole thing under the carpet after the 7x03.
Really looking forward to the new season of CSI, if only because I'm really looking forward to new Brass. I've been reading spoilers but not like I did in the past. Then again, it's not like any of the sites actually spoil much about Brass. I've also been watching some of the S7 episodes. I need to clear them off the DVR to make room for this season but I'm having a hard time. PG looks so good in HD that I don't want to delete the episodes.
