Clip Show Investigation
Apr. 12th, 2007 10:09 pmTonight's episode was an hour of my life I'll never get back.
Okay, so I didn't pay much attention to anything before the opening credits. Lab Rats, especially Hodges, do nothing for me.
Completely useless bit of info: Grissom and I have the same chair. His desk chair is my desk chair at my office.
So basically this was a clip show. It had a few new bits thrown in and used the lab rats to do a "here we are so far in the miniature killer arc" but yeah, it was just a clip show.
Brass still managed to own the show with his one single line: "Who's the big clown now?" And Catherine's look as she watched Jim smush the clown face against the glass was good for a laugh. Btw, if you sneezed, you missed Brass's scene. But of course he was there in a clip.
Paul G needs Wallace Langham's agent. Seriously, this guy is good. I suspect the guy negotiated to get WL more screen time in place of his name in the main credits. I swear WL has had more screen time this season than most of the main cast.

Date: 2007-04-13 02:40 am (UTC)I kept switching the channel back and forth between the show and the Tiger's baseball game.
Did Irwin Allen rise up from the grave to produce this episode? With all of the old footage, I thought I would see the Seaview come crashing through the lab.
The rat part was funny.

Definitely! I saw this back when it came out and have a copy saved on my hard drive. The bigger question is, have you heard his most recent half hour long interview? It's awesome! Paul G Interview Click on Hollywood Babble-on. He calls in about 29 minutes into the show.

Date: 2007-04-14 10:33 pm (UTC)Um, honestly I'm pretty ambivalent about the ep. There have been so many with very little to no Brass this season that I don't think it was all that bad compared to the other ones he wasn't in. I think I'd rather see a lab rat episode than an episode that surrounds Greg/Nick/Warrick/Sara or anyone else really and I actually really like Wendy after seeing it. It was an interesting method to progress the MCSK arc, and hey, I grew up listening to ELO so I thought that part was pretty cool.
I have a theory about Hodges/WL. I think that out of anyone on that show, with the exception of PG and WP, he's the only one who will have much of a career beyond CSI. He had a good, albeit quite small, role in Little Miss Sunshine and I think that the producers of CSI have picked up on his potential and are doing their best to capitalize on it. I wouldn't be surprised to see him either go into a much bigger role on another show or even transition into feature roles.
I do have to say that out of any scene to throw in medius to get the WTF factor going, that clown one was utterly perfect and he's the only one on the show able to pull it off. I mean could you imagine Nick doing that to mr. clown...ummm no.
Probably more than you're looking for, but that's my take on a fairly boring ep trying to continue a horrendous storyline. Have I mentioned how lame I think MCSK is? And btw, I'm working on my Google-Fu. I actually found that interview with PG before I saw it on the Fansite. Woot. Of course I haven't listened to it yet.

Date: 2007-04-14 10:51 pm (UTC)Did you know WL was a series regular on Veronica's Closet before doing CSI? He played this snitty gay character not much unlike Hodges--except maybe for the gay thing. Oh, and I love ELO too. I was loading some of their songs onto my iPod today and realized I have Mr. Blue Sky.
And I have to confess that I didn't find the interview with my Google-Fu skillz. I get Google Alerts for Paul G in my email and this one popped up twice. You have to listen to the interview. It will make you all warm and fuzzy. And if you can figure out a way to download it, I will send you cash and prizes from Vegas.
