A Variety of Nothing

Can I just say that I have a hard enough time thinking up fic titles. Subject lines aren't any easier.
I hate when I'm waiting for a chapter of a fic I like to post. I'm currently waiting on chapters of multiple fics to post (looking at you,
alice_day, along with a couple of others). I do have to say it's kinda nice though because it means there are some good Brass fics out there for once.
My cat, Tucker, is scared to death of my Ugg slippers. I was watching TV in the big chair last night and he walked by. I happened to hit the slipper so it moved and he jumped three feet into the air. Every time I moved the slipper. Of course once I figured out he was afraid, I had to move it often. He won't go near the slippers now, which is good because he used to chew on the wool.
And while I'm on the subject of cats, trying to get Sophie to the vet on Friday was made of epic fail. She used her mad Kreskin skillz to read my mind, despite all of my attempts to act normal. I had one chance to grab her and blew it. She went into kitty hiding and I had to call the vet. The tech on the phone laughed. A lot. This is the first time I've ever been outsmarted by a cat and had to reschedule but they get that a lot so they are very used to it. Cats are extremely cute but evil.
This has been a sort of productive time off already. Yesterday I got the most-difficult-to-ever-write section of the Brass/Annie fic finished! OMG, that was like giving birth to a baby who did not want to come out. It was such a huge relief. There are big chunks of the next part written (just need the time and the inclination to write) so I'm confident this thing will see daylight soon. However, other than working on the fic, I have been extremely unproductive. Still making faces when I think about doing my taxes.
I am adding this part for my friend, Nancy, who lives way up in the great North and probably still has a foot of snow on the ground. I may have to break out the lawnmower next weekend. It's supposed to be 65 today but the humidity is around 85% so it feels a whole lot warmer. It's also breezy so that helps with the humidity. As much as I love Winter, it's Spring now so I want it to be warmer and springy. My neighbor has a cherry tree in his front yard and it's blooming. There's a residential street I pass on the way in to work that is lined with cherry trees and when they bloom, it's absolutely breathtaking. I don't have to go to the Mall to fight the mass of humanity for a brief glimpse. I get a great show on my morning commute.
Very happy that my Willow tree is getting its leaves. I love seeing the bright green branches as the leaves start sprouting. The Willow tree is in the front yard and my bedroom is in the front of the house, so when the tree fills out, it completely hides me and blocks a lot of the blazing summer sun. I can stand out on the huge balcony off my room and have total privacy. Same for the Maple and Bradford Pear trees in the back. Once they get their leaves, I can be out on the patio and hidden from the view of the back neighbors. The privacy and the large (for a townhouse) yard is a big reason why I haven't moved. Unless I buy a house, I don't think I can have this kind of privacy in another townhouse. Unfortunately, it means I live in an older townhouse without all the cool amenities that come with newer places.
