Cool Weather Cooking
Sep. 15th, 2007 03:03 pmThe weather has finally turned here. High's are in the mid 70's, there's a cool breeze out of the northeast and the sky is a perfect, cloudless blue. The cooler temps make me want to do two things: open all the windows and cook.
I've opened the windows and now I'm going to test out my new food processor by making Green Olive Tapenade and Basil Pesto. The tapenade recipe is from Paolo's Ristorante and it's delish, especially with warm breadsticks.
If you're interested and want to try it, you can find the recipe here: Paolo's Famous Tapenade. You either have to really like the stuff or half the recipe because it makes a lot. I love it but I always have to share with friends.

Date: 2007-09-16 12:30 am (UTC)I do really have to admit I was hoping for something Brass related here. So disappointing.
Let me know how the tapenade comes out. And basil pesto is made of yum. Try it with half basil and half arugula sometime. The arugula adds a great bite.
And on a side note, how about a fic with tapenade and Brass? Which reminds me, I have a month or so old email I started to you about that Appalachia fic. It's probably not a good sign that I can't even finish an email about a story I want to write/finish.
And omg I so totally need to update my journal. My last few weeks have been made of !crack. Did I say something about how happy I was because now things will settle down. WRONG!!!!!!!
Yeah, I'll stop now.

Date: 2007-09-16 05:21 am (UTC)I've made the tapenade before using a handy chopper instead of the food processor and it still came out great. I ended up not making it today because I need to roast some eggplant and red peppers and I ran out of time. I did make the basil pesto and it was excellent! I've heard of using arugula and will definitely try that next time. I love arugula, especially when served with bresaola and drizzled with lemon juice and olive oil.
It's funny you mention tapenade and Brass. I was having fic thoughts of him making pesto. I'm sure he'd add a little lemon zest to his. As for your fic, I know what you mean. But I hope you can eventually finish it because I love everything you write.

Date: 2007-09-16 07:37 pm (UTC)This made me laugh. I warble back and forth about how domesticated Brass is. On the one hand I can see him totally into cooking, but then on the other, I can see easily see him have problems boiling water.
