A week's full of randomness
I went to the dentist on Wednesday. First time in about oh, five years. I only ever go if there was a problem and yes, there was a problem. I was chewing gum during a meeting at work and all of a sudden, the gum was crunchy. Gum shouldn't be crunchy. I had broken a tooth. It was just a chip really and it didn't hurt. Anyway, I went to the dentist and he fixed it. Best news (and reason I never go to the dentist)? No cavities. I haven't had a cavity in 10 years. Cutting out all those sugary drinks really does make a difference. Suzanne still drinks loaded cokes and she's getting three cavities filled on Monday.
I'm officially on vacation until July 9th. I leave for Denver on Monday and have a week of humidity-free air. When I get back I'm here for two and a half weeks and then I leave for Portland and the beach. I have a ton of vacation hours but I wasn't sure how many until I looked yesterday. I have enough vacation hours to take off 42 and 3/4 days. Three of those days are days that I purchased so in December I get paid out for those days because there's no way I'll use them. That's my Christmas shopping money.
I'm taking my travel laptop to Denver with me. I'm hoping I'll have some time to do some writing on my Brass vacation ficathon fic. I've jotted down some dialog but I still can't decide if this will be Brass/Annie, Brass/Catherine or Brass/Sofia. It's got a lot of Brass backstory (his childhood and his brother get a mention) so I want to say Brass/Annie but having one of the Vegas women along might be more fun when telling stories about Jimmy. I'm open to suggestions, if anyone has any.
Does anyone have a T-Mobile Sidekick? If so, how do you like it? I have a Blackberry for work but I've been thinking of getting a Sidekick for my personal use.
Went to dinner with the girls (Suzanne and She-Ra) on Thursday. She-Ra was supposed to go to Vegas with Suzanne and I but couldn't because of a family emergency. While we were in Vegas, we were all going to get tattoos. Suzanne and I looked into it while we were there but we decided to wait and do it when She-Ra was with us because that was the original plan. So, at dinner we all agreed to get tattoos at this place in Georgetown in August. I decided to go with my friend Sharon's idea and get cat's paws (3--one for each kitty) on the back of my shoulder instead of a snowflake on my ankle. I need to have it someplace where it won't show at work. The corporate environment has relaxed quite a bit over the last 20 years but not that much.
I might actually get my big TV back in a couple of weeks. I bought it in March and in mid May a panel went out causing this 3-inch line down one side of the screen. It was still under the manufacture warranty so the repair doesn't cost anything but the shop has had the thing for a couple of weeks now. They called yesterday to say the part finally came in to fix it but with me being away next week, I won't get it until the week after--if this part even fixes the problem. If it doesn't, I get a $3+K credit at Magnolia.
I'm going to miss all the kitties while I'm away but I'm really going to miss Tucker. He's become my little stick-tight. They all went through this and he'll probably grow out of it but for right now, it's so great. He gets in my lap and I become this kitty Barcalounger. I mean he sprawls all over me! He's really settled in perfectly now and he's looking so good. When he first got here, his coat was smelly and a little matted. It's gotten very shiny and even more soft and silky in the last couple of weeks. This little guy is such a sweetheart too. I've really lucked out with all my kitties. They are all so, so sweet and such good cats.

Yay for vacation and I'm glad you're taking your laptop with me. As for pairing, I not above begging for a Brass/Sofia story :D I'd love to see Sofia finding out about his childhood and his life.
Tattoos. Ow. But I like the decision of what you're getting :)
I hope you get your TV back soon. Have you got one at the moment to watch?
Aww little kitties. I miss my animals too when I go away. *goes and hugs them all right now*

I have two others so I'm really just whining about it but the big one is in the living room where the big, comfy sofa and chair are.

After this morning, I'm rethinking this (not really but at the moment). Tucker is a long haired cat and a messy boy-kitten who doesn't always clean up after he deposits in the litterbox. After his two hours of being mister cuddle monkey this morning, he left and came back a few minutes later. Knowing where he went, I checked and sure enough, he tracked poo on the sheets. It was a very tiny spot but it was still ew and it was enough to get me up an hour and a half before I wanted to get up. I went through this with my other boy when he was a kitten. My girl? Never.
I'd love to see Sofia finding out about his childhood and his life.
What I'm thinking of writing would work better with either Catherine or Sofia. Also, I was thinking it might take place sometime between getting shot and coming back to work so that might work better with Sofia. The question is, who would be more amused by the largest ball of twine?

Amused by the largest ball of twine? As much as I love both girls - definitely Sofia. LOL
But whatever you write, I'm REALLY looking forward to it :)

My sister and her family live in Highlands Ranch and since they have the lone grandchild, my parents bought a second home there as well. HR is maybe an hour north of CO Springs and about 30 minutes from Denver. I think if I ever moved out there, I'd live in Boulder. I really liked being that close to the mountains plus, it's about a 10 minute drive to Eldorado Canyon State Park, one of the top ten state parks you can't miss. If you're ever out that way, check it out!
Definitely had a great time! It was hot the first day or two but by the 4th it cooled down to the mid 80's and stayed that way until I left. Plus, up in the mountains it was about 20 degrees cooler. Are you being affected by the heatwave in the West or is that more to the east of you?

This heatwave thing is a trip. The whole Northern California area seems to be in a micro-climate bubble. Oregon, SoCal and Nevada are baking, but we're loving life with mid-70's temps. I'm obviously hoping it doesn't move our way.
