Brass seems okay with Catherine now. Catherine still seems bitchy. Wait, maybe that's just her regular personality now.
- Remember when Catherine had a sense of humor?
- Remember when Catherine was a CSI (and not calling herself a cop)?
- Remember when Brass was the cop and went with a CSI to interview a suspect? Catherine does it all but that's because this was a "very special Catherine episode". When does she leave?
- Remember when Nick and Warrick went into the pool? Now it's Hodges and Henry.
- Remember when the writing on CSI was so much better?

There really isn't much to say about this episode. I think I was bored before the halfway mark, probably because this was mostly about Catherine and I find her mostly boring these days. Finally picked up a little when Brass and Nick brought in Anya Sanchez, the girl who gave dead girl a "hot shot" of heroin that made her dead girl. Brass knows about hot shots. I'm impressed. Anya likes to steal jewelery. She's got a box of watches and Brass is trying on something big and hideous with a tan leather band. We already know Brass has several watches because he told Sara so many, many, many episodes ago. He then holds up a ladies watch and says "I gotta girl friend". Say what!? Was this a throwaway line or was he speaking the truth? More please!

Anya reminds me of Ellie. Remember her? Brass' daughter who completely disappeared after S6? She's got the whole cocky Ellie snark down. At least we got a glimpse of Brass snark again.

Bring back the Zuiker episodes. DLA has become a ho-hum writer.

I was disappointed with the lack of Brass in this one, but he did have some good moments. I loved the jewelery scene; it reminded me of the scene last season when he was "gossiping" with the comedian's wife. PG just played it so low key, which made it even funnier. Even my hubbie laughed at it and commented.

I kinda think it was just a line about the girlfriend. I don't think Brass is the kind of guy who would bring a real girlfriend up in an interrogation. Would love to find out he has one though!

I also chuckled in the end when Catherine has the line about the shark can't keep his mouth shut and Brass turns toward her, mouth agape. I'm not sure if he was showing surprise or imitating the shark, but he seemed in a playful mood. It was fun to see. And of course, he got the "the line" of the episode with hook, line, and sinker.

Guess I'm not too surprised about him knowing about a heroine hot shot. He was in vice and "H" was one of the drugs of choice in his youth, especially in Vietnam.

I do think Zuiker writes better stuff and certainly gives Brass his due.

As for Catherine...it is like the character is just so full of herself. Catherine was always a little cocky but it's overboard now. And when she first appeared in the epi, my hubbie just went ugh. He says she looks like a white version of Michael Jackson and wondered what Marge has done to herself. Shuddering, he said she used to be beautiful but now she just looks creepy. Guess the look goes with the newer version of Catherine?

I actually felt sorry for Hodges when Wendy left. And I got the feeling Liz Vassey's tears were real. I think TPTB screwed up royally by not resigning her. There had to be other ways to cut the budget, like giving Catherine fewer episodes....

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Since Marge has fewer epis this season, maybe we'll get more of Brass.

I'd be surprised if the girlfriend line wasn't a throwaway but it still got my attention. Also, I missed it the first time but when I watched it again, I realized he asked about a Patek Philippe watch. That's a mega-expensive watch. Brass is such a watch whore.

I'm not surprised Brass knows about hot shots either. Brass is very street smart. And that was my point. However, some of these fan fic writers like to make him out to be some sort of noob.

This sums her up perfectly! And this is why I now can't stand her. Plus, she's not a cop and really needs to quit pretending she is. But going back to the character being full of herself, my dad used to have this big thing for Marg. He loved her in China Beach and then started watching CSI. I asked him a while ago if he was still watching and he said he quit watching when Catherine became a supervisor because he couldn't stand her any more. I totally got it.

I agree about Liz Vassey but to be honest, I didn't much care for the whole Wedges thing (a couple of very background characters get more story than Brass? WTF?) so I was glad to see her go. Plus, it ticks me off that she gets a send off while Louise Lombard got nothing.

I'm not very optimistic for more Brass. I'm sure they'll want to cram in as much Catherine as possible in the 17 episodes she has left and all the Greg fans whining has gotten them a Very Special Greg episode. No one whines for Brass on the more popular boards so he gets ignored.

I really don't like what CSI did to Catherine...*sighs*

In the general the characters on the show started going down hill in Season 5

I find it so frustrating because it was a good show...it really was.

I liked Catherine until S5, then I hated her. Started to like her again after that but then when she became supervisor again, the hate returned. They just can't writer her as a supervisor without making her full of herself.

ETA: I think some of the characters started going down hill in S5 (Greg as well as Catherine) but Brass didn't start his decline until last year, when they completely ignored him. He lost his snark and spark.

Brass did stay consistent.
I dislike that they stopped using him more even before the last season. I'd rather have snarky Brass than other cops.

This show is a shell of its former self. It's sad how if I miss an episode, I don't really care. I'll catch it on repeats or when the DVDs come out next fall. That's how passive I've become with the show. I want PG back again next season, but at the same time I don't. He's not the same either, just like everyone else who's left from the original cast.

One thing about last nights episode, there sure were a lot of puns and plugs for other shows: Shark Week and Mythbusters.

I did like the scene where he was trying on the watches. I too, would like to know more about the "girlfriend" he might have.

It really is a shell. Not only did the writers not handle bringing Langston on board very well, the old writers seem to be as bored as some of the actors (PG included) and the new writers don't have a clue about the show or the characters. I'm hoping one condition of him signing on for S10 is that he gets more screen time and a couple of episodes, especially if this is his last season.

I still do watch the show live but that's because I'm still stuck in my old routine. However, once hockey season starts next week, hockey > CSI.

Well, at least we know he's been out mixing. After all, how would he have met Rita Nettles, lol. Can you see Brass on the singles scene, lol. He'd probably scare off a lot of people. It'd be cool if they wrote a scene like that for him, but I'm afraid with this bunch of writers, they'd make him come off like one of those sleazy older men that just seem to lurk.

Maybe if we all spammed the boards with the Brass needs a girlfriend idea, TPTB would take note? Nah, what am I thinking...these dolts wouldn't recognize a good idea if we slapped them over the head with it and then stamped it on their foreheads.

But if they did do it, it needs to feel real...a real woman for him, not a bimbo and not a cartoon character. But she does need to say something in the scene that makes him giggle. I can't help but think that Jim Brass in love, or even just infatuated, is too cute for words.

Whatever they do, Brass needs more screen time this season. I get the feeling that this is absolutely his last, which would make sense in the context of his story on the show. He is at the age where most cops retire. And the way they've been writing it, Brass seems to be slowly burning out.

Next week looks creepy. I hope it is one of their fun episodes. Wouldn't Brass make a great VAMPire? Just thinking...

You know, I really can't see Brass on the singles scene. He just doesn't look like that type. I can see him going to a bar where he's a regular and someone strikes up a conversation with him but other than that, he just looks like a guy who'd sit by himself and drink. And yes, at the age he is now, they have to be careful not to make him come off as a creepy old guy. He could have pulled it off 5 years ago though. But a guy who works long, strange hours is most likely going to date someone he meets on the job. Not necessarily someone who works at PD but someone he comes in contact with frequently.

I don't know about spamming the boards with Brass needing a girlfriend but it wouldn't hurt just spamming the boards with more Brass. It torques me that Brass gets completely forgotten on the boards. I think I'm the only Brass fan left over on TalkCSI or YTDAW.

As for the retirement thing, remember, Brass is younger than Paul. Even if you use the "Way to Go" age, Brass isn't 60 yet. If you use the CSI Companion age, he's two years younger. Not sure how retirement works in the fictional land of CSI Las Vegas but you're right, he's getting close.

Definitely agree here but I'm not sure how much of that is Brass and how much is Paul. The writers aren't doing either one any favors though.
