If I Had a Hammer

Watching Southland and OMG, what the hell happened to C. Thomas Howell? Ponyboy did not stay gold. He got old and wrinkly. Dude's younger than me but he looks about 10 years older.

Not a whole lot of Brass but what we got was quality over quantity. And us Brass fans are used to that.

The scene with Catherine made up for his lack of screen time. And that scene is why I don't miss Grissom at all. Brass is now Catherine's closest friend. He's her sounding board and the one to build up her confidence when she starts doubting herself. It's about time they work the friendship between them. And I loved that he was waiting for her in her office. Obviously, she called and he came over. Aw. When Catherine comes into her office, Brass is standing there, holding a pic of her and Lindsey. I don't know why but I really liked that. Maybe because it was personal and showed some of their history. My only complaint is that when she tells him about her potentially life changing event, it would have been nice to maybe acknowledge Brass' life changing event. I mean, she almost hit some guy. Brass actually shot and killed a cop. I'm starting to think we just dreamed the events in S6.

Did Brass get a haircut again? Does it get like a quarter of an inch long and then he cuts it? And what's with Nick's sudden buzz cut? Since apparently someone on the show is relaying to PG that we think he should loosen his tie, I think we need to start a campaign to get him to a) grow out his hair at least an inch and b) make them stop dying his hair. The too dark dye job (his hair is brown, not black) makes him look too pale. And I've been trying to accept buzz cut and normally, I'm okay with it but the buzz cut and the dye job? No. Just. No.

The guy going through the house with flashback!Catherine looked like Brass wearing a ballcap. Later, when Catherine is talking about the case, he says he pegged him as the bad guy the minute he laid eyes on him. So I take it that was supposed to be younger Brass with her. I had thought that might have messed up the timeline they established during "Hollywood Brass" yet again because it puts Brass in Vegas on 7/21/1991 but I looked at the facts [livejournal.com profile] la_dame_du_lac put together on the Brass forum and it's works. Just barely.

Jim with soccer mom was entertaining. When he mentioned murder, she started getting all flirty with him. Of course that amuses Jim, especially when he gets to tell her he has a warrant for the car.

All in all, I really liked this episode. It was nice to see Catherine front and center and I liked how everyone helped out. Plus, the case was interesting and not completely transparent from the start.

Very pleasant episode. Not much else to say. At least the last episode before I leave was worth it.

Oh, and I am seconding the movement for PG's haircuts. I think the gray on the sides makes him look so much better. Quit trying to hide it, embrace it instead.

Thanks. I had the person I'm replacing check LJ, and he said it's not blocked...for now. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to access the JB forum, guess I'll find out in a couple of days.
