Today really was Good Friday

What a great day today has been!

I met my boss/good friend and her daughter for breakfast this morning at this hole-in-the-wall place called The Virgina Kitchen. The food is soooo good! Got into work around 11am and wandered over to the other building to grab a soda from the little store and what do I see? Sport & Fitness Health Club is doing a promo and they had free chair massage. The chair was wide open so I jumped on it. Because I was the first person and the only person so far, I got about 10 minutes compared to the regular 5. Awesome! I was so relaxed, I was babbling all the way back to my building because I was so dang relaxed. I get back to my office and what do I find? The HR fairy had been by and escorted out our completely useless Admin. I knew we were going to fire her but I didn't know it would be that quickly. We must have really had all our reasons well-documented because legal has to sign off on the terms and they scrutinize everything.

It was nice and quiet so I got lots of stuff done plus I read this hilarious recount of my friend, N's trip home from Cleveland. I know it wasn't hilarious at the time but N, you're right. It did make for a great story and I'm happy to know you and your friend got home safe and sound.

Around 4 I decided I'd run over to the Apple store and get that Sonic Impact I've been wanting for my iPod. It plays the videos on a 7" screen and is nice and compact for plane travel. I also bought a small JBL speaker thingy for my iPod that I can use at work. I had bought the big Bose speaker thing but that was just a little too big for the office. I'd blast away my co-workers. This little JBL will too but it doesn't take up as much space so I can put it on my desk. Anyway, now for the best part. I decided that once I left Apple, I'd call in a carryout order from Maggiano's (great Italian and best cheesecake ever). So I called the order in from the car then drove over to the other mall (Tyson's Corner is mall heaven) and picked it up. Chicken Farfalle and strawberry cheesecake. YUM! Plus they threw in a loaf of crusty bread. I love Maggiano's.

Yup, it's definitely been a Good Friday. And to make it even better, I'm going to re-watch last night's CSI so I can enjoy all the awesome Brass again. Brass is made of awesome!

Our Maggianos is right beside The Cheesecake Factory...do you see my dilemna? I love BOTH of them and I'm seldom on that side of town.

Brass was SO wonderful in last night's episode. Best thing about the episode.

Glad your day has been so awesome. Have a great weekend!

We don't have Maggianos out here. Do have a few Apple stores though. Two within 2 miles of one another in Palo Alto. Yes, we're geeks. And a Cheesecake Factory, to boot. Life is good. 'Specially on Fridays.

And didn't he just totally rock last night's ep? Finally.

btw, I'm hoping to post my fic tomorrow.

Sorry about not getting it up yesterday, but I finally got my story up on ff.net. I'll post over on the Brass site tonight when we get back from SF.

I won't tell you before you read it how I feel about the story, but it'll be interesting to hear your take. Gotta run.

The dandelion one is my fav too.
[livejournal.com profile] wiccagirl24's awesome Smutathon fic was the catalyst that got me faffing about with POV. I don't think I've ever really had a good grip on the true Brass voice in my fics the way you do. And I think it's coz I've never really tried to get in his head.
So when I was writing this one that voice, to me, warbled between Brass and some caricature of a mobster and it just didn't feel right. And that radio interview with PG really threw a spanner in it. His voice was sooo different from any of the other ones I'd heard him do, that I really was unsure. If you know what I mean.
But wow, your feedback is amazing and totally not what I was thinking. And of course now the wheels are turning again. But anyway, thanks so much for your awesome feedback.

Where do you find this stuff??? The golf/Michelob one sounds incredibly polished. I wonder if they used CSI type voice manipulation on them.

When I write Brass, the voice I always get in my head is the one he uses at the end of "Ellie"--when he's by the fountain.
That could be my problem, I don't have a specific voice for him, it's all over the board.

Wow...! Paul has a great " voice over " voice...the voice in this is very deliberate to the requirements of these ads...doesn't seem to matter what voice you hear from Paul it makes my heart miss a beat when I hear it!!

When I read fan fic I hear the gruffer voice of the character Jim Brass as portaryed in CSI, I think Paul G has a softer Boston accent, so keep the voice your hear of him with Ellie by the Fountain..thats exactly how I " hear " him when I read Jim Brass.

Love your stories you are writing great stuff!!

Oh, and you have to check out the preview of next week's on innertube. "Who's the clown now?"

Okay, so I've only just gone on Innertube and checked this out. I cannot wait for this scene. And just the fact Catherine is on the other side of the glass. LOLZ. Can't wait. I think I'd sit through 45 minutes of nonstop Greggy angst just to see Brass manhandling a clown.
