Are you ready?

It is the time of the year that I anticipate even more than the return of CSI. Yes, it's the NFL kickoff. I live for NFL football (and the office pools). I grew up in football country (Oklahoma) and I've been a huge Dallas Cowboy fan since I was 5 years old and my grandpa gave me a Cowboys' uniform complete with shoulder pads and helmet for Christmas. Big time Tomboy, I was.

Yeah, yeah, I know I live in Redskins country, arch-enemies of the Cowboys, but if you're a true fan, you stay true to your team, even when you move 1200 miles away and into hostile territory. And besides, I sometimes think the Cowboys fans out-number the Redskins fans, especially when they play each other at Fed Ex Field.

If you stay true to your team, you continually cheer for them even though they are always losing. One has to be a strong person to be a Lion's fan. However, they didn't do too bad and had chances to win. There might be hope. What a cool grandpa to give you a Cowboy's uniform. I would have loved that. My parents gave up on trying to give me girl stuff and finally gave me the things I wanted, like baseball gloves, footballs, and cool toy guns and holster sets.

Just saw the score of your game. Not good! However, on the bright side for me, the Packers are getting killed. So no matter how bad my team might lose, it's still a good day if the Packers lose. Even better that it's a shut-out.

I love NFL football. I've been a fan of the Cowboys for as long as I can remember. Strange thing is, I lived in Irving and a stone's throw from Texas Stadium for several years and never attended a home game. o_0

Oh and, as for the Tomboy thing--I was such a huge Tomboy when I was younger. Used to play catch, loved basketball, climbed trees, and ran around my backyard with my cousins and friends playing Cowboys and Indians.

Well, I really have to say I can't admit to ever having been, or ever being a Cowboy fan. I grew up during the height of the '9ers dominance during the 80s--I still don't fully understand grown men putting on pounds of equipment to play (loved to play rugby with three big brothers--another tomboy here), but I do appreciate the game.
I keep an eye on the scores, root for the 9ers--especially now Mr. Owens is plying his trade elsewhere *ahem*--I have a soft spot for the Seahawks and Mike Holmgren.
