Another one of those random posts
Last night the Capitals played the Bruins. It was the second time the two teams have met this season. It was the second time the Caps beat the Bruins. This was a great game. The Bruins are #1 in the Eastern Conference, the Caps are #2 and now 9 points behind them. When the Caps play hard, like they did last night, I don't see any other team in the Eastern Conference that can beat them.
Thanks to
la_dame_du_lac, I have discovered this
ugly_crap. Honestly, it makes me nearly wet myself, I laugh so hard.
We have a neighborhood stray cat who hangs out at my house and my neighbor's house. She's a very sweet cat (I think she was a pet and someone left her behind) and trusts my neighbor and I enough to let us rub her tummy. She's a pushy cat, very vocal and kind of on the tubby side, so I started called her Pudgy. Over the summer she lost a lot of weight and my neighbor and I got a little worried about her but she's bulked back up and has a nice, thick winter coat. The last week we had really frigid temps. Highs like 12 and lows like 2 degrees kind of cold. I've been hoping my neighbor would take Pudgy in, especially when it got so cold. She lost her cat a few years ago and I know she wants to but it was very traumatic for her to lose her cat and she's been hesitant. I've offered to help with Pudgy's vet bills if she does. Anyway, she hasn't taken her in yet and Pudgy stayed outside during the frigid temps. She's been sleeping in some leaves in my back yard. It's cozy and dry (there's a nice overhang) but it's still cold. So yesterday I built her a little hut. I got a thick box and covered it with a strong trash bag (taped it so the box isn't exposed), then I lined it with an old fleece blanket and put it over her nest. If it rains or snows, it will give her lots of protection and I can face it in so the rain won't blow in. I went out to check on Pudgy this morning and she was curled up all cozy inside. It's not exactly toasty but between her thick coat and the fleece, she seems to be very warm. Oh, and I'm not sure how old Pudgy is. She has terrible teeth (she lost her upper canines so she drools a lot) but I'm thinking that's due to having a hard life outside. Yesterday she was on my patio, pouncing over and over on a stick. ZOMG, so, so cute!
I'm working from home the next three days. Monday is usual and I'm trying to make Wednesday another usual work from home day but this week it's mostly due to the Inauguration festivities. I live out in the VA burbs, about 13 miles outside DC, and we're seeing increased traffic, mostly from people flying into Dulles and then not knowing where the hell they're going. We aren't nice drivers on a good day. Having a bunch of tourists on the roads doesn't help. It's best if we all just stay home and let the out-of-towners have at it.
I'd like to take the holiday tomorrow but as usual, there's too much going on at work so I don't think I can. Did I mention we are re-organizing AGAIN?! Yeah, they make that announcement while the other one isn't even done yet. But the much despised CFO of my sector has already been replaced by the liked CFO of the sector we're merging with so that's the upside. Anyway, I hate that people don't really recognize the MLK holiday so I like to make a point of taking it. Instead, I'll take it Tuesday. I think MLK would approve.
So I saw an article from some Philly paper where they asked a few celebrities about who they liked in the Super Bowl.
Paul Guilfoyle (Capt. Brass on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation): "The Philadelphia Eagles. I like them to go all the way. They're a little bit like our show. Kind of a wise guy in charge, Donovan McNabb, and a bunch of hard workers."
Personally, I'm hoping it's the Cardinals. I really don't like the Eagles and McNabb.

Speaking of MLK, I do get tomorrow off. So, the military recognizes it. Hope Tuesday is a good day off.
Glad to hear kitty is doing well despite Mother Nature.
I feel your pain on the work issues. Not only will I be out of a job in the next month or so, but the command post has a bunch of new people coming in and trying to change everything. It's funny, because the changes won't last and in two months they'll be back to where they started. Kind of glad I'm leaving the building. It's absolute buffoonery...

So, you say you will be out of a job but you're not really, right? I mean, it's not like the military rif's people. But what happens to you?
And yeah, I had the same reaction when I first clicked on ugly crap.

Aww, yes I'm iclined to agree with
I heard on my late local news that several streets are already close in expectation of Tuesday. Hope you're not too inconvenienced.
Can I just say I had a good laugh when I heard Philly wasn't Sooperbowl bound? Didn't want the 'em there either.

I took a pic on my phone of the snow yesterday. Pudgy came out of her box (like a little groundhog) and got in the pic but the pic is so small, you can barely see her.
Have you seen the crowds today? Have you? OMFG! They shut down the Red Line at a couple of stations because a woman got hit by a train. I suspect she got pushed off the track by the massive crowd. I'm out in the burbs and away from the actual street/bridge closures but all that has a domino effect even out here.
And I really wanted it to be Cards - Ravens but oh well. Go Cardinals!

And as much as I love PG, I'm really glad his prediction of the Eagles going to the game didn't pan out.

And I agree about the Eagles. PG needs to stick to hockey.
