Christmas Eve 2008
Christmas Eve and I think I might have found some Christmas joy.
Maybe it's because I didn't work today. Or maybe it was the lovely cards I got from
mingsmommy and
vr_trakowski. Or maybe it's because my neighbor came by yesterday and brought me Longo's pizza and walnut and poppy seed breads from this place in Hazelton, PA. It's one of those regional things and I love it. I love my neighbor. She was here when I moved in almost 16 years ago and is one of the reasons why I haven't moved. Another possible reason for the found joy is that last night the Caps were down 4-0 to the Rangers and came back to win 5-4 in OT. I love my team. Love. Them.
Went to church this evening with my parents and sister. That was good. It's not my church and I don't claim that particular religion (I don't claim any religion other than human) but I go every year because it makes my step-mother happy. And last year they had that amazing tenor. Unfortunately, he wasn't there this year. When we got back, I hung out at the parent's house for a bit. My step-mother and I started talking about old TV shows and we agreed that tomorrow we'd watch this DVD she has of the Carol Burnett Show. I loved that show and can't wait to watch it. We then started talking about all the old TV shows and I told her that I think my childhood was heavily influenced by "I Love Lucy". Before my sister left, my dad gave us our Christmas gift. It came in an envelope (one for me and one for my sis) and was extremely generous. I'm saving it for my next trip to Vegas.
When I came home there was a package from Boudin Bakery on the front porch. I was pretty sure I knew who it was from given that the Boudin Bakery is out of San Francisco. Well, that and I remembered
tos_lover saying a package would arrive on Christmas Eve. I opened it up and OMG! it's the most awesome gift ever! Thank you so much! If I hadn't already eaten at my parent's, I would have had it tonight. Seriously, that is awesome and I can't thank you enough! I wish VA had better stuffs to send. Boiled peanut soup just doesn't sound all that tasty.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is on TV. This is the best one, the real one, the one with Gene Wilder. I can quote this movie. And I do. I've always loved the last lines from the movie:
Willy Wonka: But Charlie, don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he he always wanted.
Charlie Bucket: What happened?
Willy Wonka: He lived happily ever after.
